General Surgery

Professional, precise, and patient-focused surgical services.

Our hospital team provides a full range of general surgical services, including spays, neuters, mass removals, wound care, and dental procedures. Comprehensive anesthetic protocols are tailored to each patient, and highly trained veterinary assistants continuously monitor pets throughout surgery and recovery.

Preventing and treating pain and anxiety is always a priority for our surgical patients. We use multimodal pain control including injections for pain and anxiety, numbing cream on the skin prior to catheter placement, local injections for pain, and topical or oral pain medications to continue pain management at home.

  • Prior to Surgery, medications will be sent home beforehand to help reduce anxiety on arrival. Pre-operative bloodwork is performed to ensure patients are healthy enough for anesthesia.
  • During Surgery, injectable pain and anxiety medications are given, and a local numbing cream is used before an IV catheter is placed. IV fluids are given prior to and during surgery to help support the kidneys, liver, and circulatory system during anesthesia. Medications are given for deep sedation, and an endotracheal tube is placed to provide oxygen and inhaled anesthesia during surgery. During surgery, patients are monitored closely for changes in respiratory rate, heart rate, blood pressure, blood oxygen level, and temperature.
  • After Surgery, monitoring continues until patients are fully recovered.
Before patients return home, we discuss at home care and monitoring in detail. Pain control is always part of post-operative care for our patients.
